Flop, turn and river
A game of Texas Hold'em revolves around the community cards - three (the flop), then one (the turn), finally one (the river). Players use these plus their hole cards to make their five-card poker hand.
Casino version and pot games
Ultimate Texas Hold'em house edge per ante bet is 2.185%, and some casinos add on a side bet known as the 6-Card Bonus.
Hold'em is traditionally a pot game, so the payouts depend on the stakes, not fixed tables or slots.
Maximum payouts on big antes
Large bettors should be wary of maximum payouts. If your ante bet is more than 1/500 of the maximum payout, then you will get shortchanged on a royal flush.
Blinds and raises
On a typical Texas Hold'em table, the blinds are forced bets that begin the wagering. These forced bets keep the pot ticking as each player considers their two hole cards. In cash games, the blinds always stay the same, while in tournaments they increase regularly.
If you raise, it must be at least double the previous bet to play. The blinds rotate left one position after each round.
